Serving up a Hearty Helping of Recognition for Volunteers’ Week 2018

01 June 2018

Each year Volunteers’ Week UK 1 – 7 June recognises the contribution volunteers make to our communities every day. In Northern Ireland, Volunteer Now takes the lead in promoting and encouraging volunteer involving organisations to thank volunteers for all their hard work and commitment.

Local charities will host a variety of activities to celebrate the power of volunteering to bring communities together. For many, the week will also be a chance to showcase the wide range of volunteering opportunities on offer and to encourage more people to try volunteering for the first time.

Denise Hayward, Chief Executive, Volunteer Now, said

“This hugely popular campaign celebrates those wonderful individuals who offer their time to help others. There are currently over a quarter of a million volunteers in Northern Ireland who all play a vital role; from volunteer drivers to sports coaches, from hospital volunteers to those working in charity shops.  Volunteers’ Week gives us the opportunity to shine the spotlight on these local people and give them the recognition and thanks they deserve.”

Volunteer Now has a range of on-line resources available to groups - download our Menu booklet full of ideas and fun ways to serve up a worthy ‘thank-you’ event. This booklet includes links to download your Volunteers' Week certificates, event action plan, tips on press releases, and stories from other organisations on how they celebrated Volunteers' Week to give you some inspiration!
