CELEBRATE VOLUNTEERS' WEEK 1ST – 7TH JUNE 2018Caring Communities Logo

BECOME A VOLUNTEER BEFRIENDER

Volunteers' Week is an annual event from the 1st - 7th June that gives an opportunity to celebrate volunteering and to say thank you to all volunteers who give of their time so freely.

Through the Caring Communities Safe & Well Service Betty has been befriending Hessie once per week since August 2017. The following are some of Hessie’s thoughts about the support she has received……….

Hessie’s Memoirs

"Since having a fall months ago, I am so grateful for the care and attention I have received from the carers from the Trust I get every morning. Joanne and Jordan come in to me every morning to get me up and dressed and see me down stairs all within the space of 30 mins it is very much appreciated. Betty, a Volunteer Befriender with Caring Communities, visits me on a Tuesday afternoon for an hour or two. She is so kind. Mr Darcy my fox terrier is excited to see her ."

Hessie’s - A Little Tribute to them

Life is sweet because of themPhoto of Betty & Hessie

and things we all share

we live on not because of ourselves

but because of family and people who care

its giving and doing for somebody else

on all that life’s splendor depends

all the joys of this wonderful world

are found in those who are now my friends

A kind word is never lost

It keeps going on form one person

to another until at last it comes

back to me again.

The Caring Communities Safe & Well Service are delighted that Betty and Hessie are enjoying their befriending experience. The Caring Communities Safe & Well Service wishes to take this opportunity to thank Betty and all the Volunteer Befrienders with the service for the wonderful work that they do to reduce loneliness. It is much appreciated.
