Certificate presentation to SHSCT Day Opportunities programme

26 September 2018

Volunteer Now held a very special presentation in St Luke’s Armagh recently.

In addition to supporting individuals and organisations in all areas of volunteering, Eamon Murphy (Outreach Officer Volunteer Now) stated “We provide Mobile Volunteering Opportunities for groups wishing to try something new while gaining new experiences”. The programme is particularly beneficial to groups of all ages and abilities who may not otherwise have an opportunity to experience volunteering.

Participants of the SHSCT Day Opportunities programme were involved in an eight week volunteering programme, assisting the Oxfam charity. The group were tasked with relabelling donated jewellery with the Oxfam branding.

In recognising the efforts of the volunteers, Armagh Banbridge and Craigavon Lord Mayor Julie Flaherty was delighted to attend and present certificates to each of the volunteer participants.

Following the presentation The Lord Mayor spent time chatting with individuals about their experiences and expressed a hope of working with the group again in the near future.

Also present was Aisling Slim and Joanne Kelly (Day Opportunities Support Workers) and Lisa-Poland O’Hare the Coordinator of Day Opportunities.
