Age-friendly Belfast Older Volunteer Awards 2014

27 October 2014

Does your organisation or group involve volunteers aged 60+? Want to recognise and celebrate their valuable contribution to your work?

You've still got time to nominate them for the Age-Friendly Belfast Older Volunteer Awards 2014! The deadline is Friday 31 October 2014.

Supported by Volunteer Now, these awards are an opportunity for Belfast-based community and voluntary groups and organisations to recognise their volunteers who are aged 60 years and over.

They celebrate the considerable contribution and positive impacts that older volunteers make to the work of a wide variety of Belfast organisations and groups. Because the awards have been so well received, this year, we’ve introduced five different award categories from which a special nominee will be chosen to receive the Lord Mayor’s Best of Belfast Award.

We're looking for nominations in five categories:

  1. The Older Volunteer of the Year Award recognises an individual volunteer whose contribution has made a significant difference to the organisation, services users and other volunteers over the last 12 months.
  2. The Marie Mathews Participation Award recognises an individual who epitomises the idea of volunteering, either through their participation as a volunteer or through their involvement as a volunteer encouraging others to participate.
  3. The Arts and Culture Award recognises an individual volunteer who gives their time in the arts and cultural sector.
  4. The Team or Group Award recognises a team or group of volunteers delivering a specific project or programme or working within the same section or volunteering for a specific part of an organisation.
  5. The Intergenerational Team Award recognises a team or group of volunteers who support or deliver an intergenerational project.
