10 February 2016

The Western Health & Social Care Trust (WHSCT) is proud to announce that Volunteer Now has awarded a renewal of the Investing in Volunteers (IiV) Quality Standard Award to the Trust's Volunteering Service.

WHSCT was assessed against a range of best practice standards and proved to excel in all aspects of working with its volunteers. Sandra Adair, Director of Volunteer Now Enterprises, said:

"Volunteer Now is delighted to announce the Western Trust's successful achievement of this Award, they have demonstrated a real commitment to volunteering, proving that their volunteer management policies and procedures meet Nationally recognised Standards."

Volunteers freely give up their time and energy to add value to the patient and client experience across all facilities within the WHSCT area.

WHSCT Chairman, Gerard Guckian, accepting the Investing in Volunteers Award said:

"This is a fantastic achievement for the Western Trust's Volunteer Service. Volunteers serve as a wonderful connection to our community. Over the past 10 years the numbers of volunteers have grown as has the range of roles they undertake and I would wish to pay particular tribute to Anne Love and Wendy Doherty for their unstinting support to our volunteers and ultimately our patients and clients."

Anne Love, Western Trust Volunteer Services Manager, said:

"We are delighted to receive this renewal of the Award. We appreciate the significant contribution our volunteers provide on a daily basis in our hospitals and community facilities. This Award demonstrates that we as an organisation meet best practice standards in relation to all volunteer involvement."
