Belfast Lord Mayor launches #ChristmasTIME volunteering campaign

01 December 2016

With Christmas approaching Volunteer Now is encouraging people to add volunteering to their ‘to do’ list. Their ChristmasTIME campaign aims to encourage more people to get involved in a one-off or short volunteering opportunity as part of their festive celebrations.

christmas timeWendy Osborne OBE, Chief Executive, Volunteer Now explains, “Many charities and community organisations need extra help around Christmas with their festive  volunteering opportunities – from Santa Helpers at a grotto or fair, to carol singing, to raise funds, wrapping presents or food collections for Christmas hampers. By giving as little as an hour of your time to volunteer for one of these roles you can make a big difference to an organisation, a cause, or a family in need. The added bonus is that it’s fun and you come away feeling good too.  It’s win-win for everyone!”

The Lord Mayor of Belfast, Alderman Brian Kingston was in the Festive Spirit when he helped to launch the campaign at Volunteer Now and added: “I would encourage everyone to give their support.  Thinking of others, and doing something practical to help, is especially poignant at this time of the year – what better Christmas gift could you give.”
