A free course for people aged 50+ who'd like to rediscover the joys of cycling :)
The Recycled Cyclist Course runs for 4 weeks and is aimed at 50+ year old cyclists who would like to share their enthusiasm of a healthy activity with others but may not have been on a bike for some time.
|Introduction - Level 1||Thurs 20 April 2017 11am-1pm||Writers Square, Belfast|
|Level 2||Thurs 27 April 2017 11am-1pm||Sustrans, Adelaide St. Belfast|
|Pedalling Picnic and ‘Getting about Belfast by Bike’||Fri 5 May 2017 11am-2pm||Sustrans, Adelaide St. Belfast|
Week 1 is back to basics in a traffic free location to get rid of those wobbles and add to your basic skills. In this 2 hour session you will gain practical experience of checking bikes and helmets.
Week 2 moves on from the traffic free area into quiet residential traffic for 2 hours and looks at how to stay safe and the Highway Code relating to cyclists.
Week 3 looks at getting about Belfast by bike; looking at the new cycle specific infrastructure; finishing with a fun guided Peddling Picnic to a venue to be decided by the group (possibly The Dock Cafè at Titanic slipways). The slowest cyclist will dictate the speed for the whole group.
What to bring:
♦ Bikes and helmets will be provided
♦ Wear comfortable clothes appropriate to the weather
♦ Bring a sense of fun and wear a big smile.
