Befriending Week 1–7 Nov: Arthritis Care

Volunteer Befriending Week aims to raise awareness of the issue of loneliness and promote the great work of Volunteer Befrienders in reducing social isolation and loneliness. Social isolation and loneliness impacts on an individuals’ quality of life and adversely affects their health and wellbeing. Older people are particularly vulnerable to social isolation and loneliness owing to a loss of friends, family, mobility and income.

Arthritis Care Northern Ireland's specialist befriending service offers friendship and support from people who understand the difficulties of living with a long-term health condition and their Staying Connected Programme is designed to help people learn ways to manage and copy with their long-term health condition.
