Keeping Children Safe: Training for Staff and Volunteers

What is the training about?

Based on the principles of good practice in safeguarding children and young people as outlined in 'Our Duty to Care', this one day certificated training programme covers:

  • legal and policy context for safeguarding children and young people;
  • categories and indicators of abuse;
  • procedures for reporting concerns;
  • creating a safe, child centred environment; and
  • keeping children and young people safe through a code of behaviour for staff/volunteers.


Who is the training for?

This training programme is suitable for staff and volunteers who have regular and/or direct contact with children and young people. People who have undertaken this course include youth leaders, nursery workers, officers in charge, coaches, supervisors and early years workers.


How much does the training cost?

45 per person which includes participant materials.


Who delivers the training?

Keeping Children Safe training is delivered by qualified and accredited trainers with experience of safeguarding issues.


How long does the training take?

10.00am - 4.00pm.

Keeping Children Safe Training for Staff and Volunteers is an interactive and participative training programme where participants will learn through presentation, group work and discussion.

Volunteer Now is launching a new one-to-one safeguarding policy support service, where you will meet a safeguarding expert to discuss the review/development of your safeguarding policy, procedures and guidelines against the recognised standards of best practice. You will also receive an action plan and information which will guide you on how to proceed following the session.
