The Unlocking Potential Project recently held an information session at Volunteer Now’s offices in Shaftesbury Square, Belfast in conjunction with Guide Dogs for the Blind Northern Ireland.

Potential volunteers heard from regular Guide Dog volunteers about their volunteering roles and met some of the new and existing guide dogs. The potential volunteers also heard from one service user about the excellent benefits of the services provided and how having a guide dog changed his life immensely.

Volunteer Coordinator for Northern Ireland, Jolene Moran, said at the event, “Guide Dogs has over a  10,000-strong volunteer community and this helps us make a massive difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people. We need your skills, we need your time – but most of all we need your commitment and enthusiasm for helping others."

You’ll be amazed at what you get back in return. As a Guide Dogs volunteer, you will:

  • Meet a new circle of like-minded friends
  • Get a fascinating insight into what we do
  • Experience varied and exciting roles
  • Learn valuable new skills
  • Make a life-changing difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people
