2019 Belfast City Marathon: 5 May 2019

The Event

For the first time ever the 38th Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon will be held on a Sunday, 5th May 2019. The streets of Belfast will come alive as around 20,000 participants are expected to set off on their 26.2 mile journey.

There’s a new flatter and faster marathon route starting from the iconic Stormont Estate and finishing at Ormeau Park that encompass all 4 corners of Belfast . Be part of the biggest Marathon event in Northern Ireland and have great time by supporting runners and spectators!

The Role

The event relies heavily upon volunteers (just under 400 people to be exact!) to help the race run smoothly and we’re looking for people to assist with a range of tasks which include;

  • Acting as a route steward to direct participants
  • Managing a water or energy station
  • Work as part of a team at the start and finish areas to distribute packs and medals
  • Support the transport team along the route

Volunteer shift times will vary between 1h to 8h depending on your role and location.

Training and support

All our volunteers receive event training prior to Race Day.

During the event, you will receive an official rain jacket and food and refreshments will be provided at Ormeau Park for you to join at the end of your shift. Packed lunches may be available to volunteers supporting water and energy stations. After the event all volunteers will receive a commemorative t-shirt for their services.

You can volunteer as an individual, a family or as part of a group. If you’re between 14 and 25 years of age you can count your volunteer hours towards the Millennium VolunteerRecognition Programme

How to Apply

The shift is now live on the myvolunteerpage, or you can e-mail events@volunteernow.co.uk
