Celebrating the invaluable role of a trustee

As this week is Trustees’ Week, we are taking a moment to recognise the valuable contribution that our trustees make to Volunteer Now. Our board is made up of a dynamic, vibrant mix of people who give their time to help shape the strategic direction of our organisation. They each bring specific skills, experience and insight to the board and we are incredibly grateful for their input.

One such person is Samantha McClatchy, who joined Volunteer Now’s board in 2021.

“Volunteering has always been part of my life thanks to my parents who instilled that within me at a young age. I also had some exposure to the voluntary sector through my work in recruitment with Lucas Executive Search, so when I heard that Volunteer Now were looking for people to join their board, I thought it was a fantastic opportunity and a natural fit for me.

“Four years on, I have learned so much, broadened my professional experience and skillset, as well as making fantastic connections with great people.  Seeing the work of an organisation like Volunteer Now up close gives you a true insight into not only the challenges it faces, but also the real difference it is making to society every day.

“You become even more passionate about a cause when you are a trustee and feel inspired to do everything that you can to help.

“I would encourage anyone considering becoming a trustee to find an organisation that aligns with your values and it will become a really enriching role for you. It will help you in endless ways professionally and personally. I am very glad to have become a trustee at a relatively early stage in my professional career and am particularly proud to be a trustee of Volunteer Now.”
