Growing Through – grief peer support programmes
Growing Through is a charity that provides relief to those who are in need by reason of bereavement through death, family breakdown, separation, or divorce, through the provision of training and resources to deliver Grief Peer Support Programmes for children and teenagers across Ireland. Their programmes are peer support group curriculums that are biblically based. They are targeted, evidence-based programmes of intervention and prevention, to provide help for children to cope with their grief now, in the early stages, in order to prevent problems stemming from unresolved grief in their future.
How do they do this?
- They provide training and resources for the delivery of grief peer support group programmes for children and teenagers who have been bereaved through death, family breakdown, separation and divorce.
- They provide ongoing support for existing and new groups as needed.
- The ultimate dream of Growing Through is to have local support groups for bereaved children in every town/city in the UK, Northern Ireland, Eire and internationally. In order to attain this, they need people who are passionate about providing ongoing support for grieving children and teens to gather likeminded people, who would be willing to invest in the resources, take the training and be that support to hurting children and teens in your local area.
If you would like to start a local group in your area and need more information, please send an enquiry through the contact page on their website and they will get back to you in due course.
