International Day of Play 2024

On 25 March, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution to hold an annual international awareness day for play.  The International Day of Play will be held on 11 June 2024 and annually thereafter.  The campaign is coordinated by a network of organisations including the International Play Association, with the Northern Ireland branch and PlayBoard NI leading locally.

As part of the inaugural International Day of Play, PlayBoard are encouraging children and young people from across Northern Ireland to get involved in celebrating play in their school, in childcare, in Youth settings and in their local communities.

This information leaflet provides further information on the day alongside PlayBoard’s Summer of Play challenge sheet which gives some starter ideas for how settings can show their support for the day through play activities.

In the runup to the day, they are also carrying out a short children and young persons survey focused on the state of play in NI (click here).  Please complete this short survey, as they seek to get as broad a range of voices involved as possible.

If you would like any further information, please get in touch with PlayBoard at info@playboard.org.
