What inspired you to get involved?
Barnie McDonald and her work in the orphanage.

What does your volunteering involve?
I Volunteered in a Thailand orphanage and when there I taught the children English in the mornings. In the afternoon I did activities with the blind deaf and disabled children. On weekends we visited the “street children” and played sports with them.

What skills or qualities are required for your volunteering role?
Communication, empathy, patience and humor.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering and what has been your highlight?
I enjoyed seeing the joy we brought to the children in the orphanage and really enjoyed the sport with the street kids. My highlight would have to be learning sign language with the deaf children.

Why would you encourage others to become a Millennium Volunteer and what advice would you give them?
Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community and is extremely rewarding. It is a great way to meet new friends and is a lot of fun. I say get involved with as much as possible.
